General Information about the Tampa VII

The Tampa VII, owned and operated
by third generation Captain Gene Becker, is a custom built, 60' fishing vessel,
powered by twin Detroit diesels, for one of the smoothest, fastest rides on the
coast.
Licensed to carry 49 passengers,
with a maximum of safety and comfort, she sails out of Belmar Marina
in Belmar , New Jersey, making her the closest charter boat to the Shark River Inlet. Her close proximity to prime fishing grounds, coupled with her fast
cruise speed, means you'll spend less time driving, and more time
fishing.
Captain Gene Becker runs almost
two hundred charters each year. Whether battling our hard-fighting summer
residents like bluefish, striped bass, and weakfish, or chasing the exclusive
tunas that populate our offshore canyons, Gene and his expert mates go out of
their way to make each charter a memorable experience.
For 1999, Gene has made over seventy five thousand dollars
worth of boat and equipment upgrades to make a superb boat, even better!
It
doesn't matter if you've never picked up a rod and reel before, the Tampa VII
staff enjoys teaching and working with everyone. You'll be surprised at
how easily you can master the equipment, and how quickly you'll begin to catch
fish.
Let's face it…..we all want to catch
fish. What might start out as a "fun day" on the water, can
quickly deteriorate into a poor trip if nobody catches anything , especially the
younger children on board. Gene and his staff specialize in maximizing the
potential for successful fishing , by spending so much time on the water each
week that they know what's biting……and what's not. This is very important
when you book a charter with Gene, and you decide on a species months ahead of
the date you've chosen. Many a charter has turned into a success story,
simply because Gene doesn't want to waste your time trying for a fish that isn't
cooperating at the time of your charter. A perfect example: Last summer, a
company chartered the Tampa VII for a daytime bluefishing trip in mid- July
(Bluefish can become notoriously picky feeders during that time period).
The day before the trip, Gene contacted the charter and explained to them that
the two trips he had run earlier in the week for blues had very poor
results. Fortunately for those charters, Gene had made preparations to
drift for fluke in the event of slower bluefishing, and by doing so, his parties
had great success, but with a different species. Gene's advice: fish for
fluke the next day! The company's president listened to Gene; changed the
charter from blues to fluke, and the result was that almost everyone on board
the next day caught their limit of fluke, with several four and five pound fish
caught. The bottom line: another successful charter on the Tampa
VII.
When you charter the Tampa
VII, you don't have
to worry about rods, reels, tackle, bait…. or who's going to clean and bag your
fish. Gene and his staff take care of everything, and can even make
catering arrangements for your party if you'd like. Literally, all you
have to do is show up and catch fish.
Some of the other
amenities that are part of the Tampa VII experience:
With a wide variety of charters available ,and some of the most reasonable rates in the tri-state area, the Tampa VII books early.
